Afternoon Workshops: Where students build, publish, and compete
After core academics in the morning, students step into our afternoon workshops, collaborating with peers through real-world application and moving from theory to practice.
Students may also complete a 25-minute Skill Surge, a focused block to finish anything outstanding from the morning.
The afternoon programs run in 60–90 minute sessions and are focused, social and genuinely fun.
They take place in studios, labs and competition rooms, where your child works with expert coaches and ambitious teammates to create real output. That might mean a competition performance, a working build, or published writing.
At GT School, a child who publishes a book doesn't just think of themselves as a kid who's good at writing. They think of themselves as a writer.

External competition raises the bar
It’s one thing to earn high marks inside a classroom. It’s another to prove it against outside competitors and independent judges.
GT students commit to year-long teams where the stakes are real: tournaments, rankings and results. Competition isn’t an extracurricular add-on; it’s a core pillar of how we develop gifted kids, driving resilience, teamwork and growth.
Four in five score in the top 25% nationally in Science, proof that real work beats more time in class.

Coaches who’ve done it at the highest level
Our coaches bring real-world experience that gifted students can learn from directly.
For example, our Chess Program Director, Anjelina Belakovskaia, is a Woman International Grandmaster, three-time US Women’s Chess Champion, and former leader of the US Olympic Chess Team.
Our Debate Program Director, Norberto Troncoso, is a three-time state debate champion and has coached national debate champions for more than a decade.

Students get direct access to coaches who know what elite performance requires. Our coaches are also matched to students based on personal interests.
Whether a student wants to become a public speaker, develop their writing for publication or pursue other ambitious goals, we connect them with a field expert who has done exactly that.
High standards.
Held with care.
We’re unapologetic about outcomes, but we’re not a pressure cooker. Acceleration works when students have expert coaching, clear feedback and a culture of joyful intensity with real support.
